If America’s rural communities are to thrive they will need the same
opportunities that are found in urban areas – good jobs, modern roads, rail,
bridges, high speed internet, top notch schools and local health facilities.
The lack of economic opportunity, along with the absence of a competitive
education system and availability of local health care have led to an exodus of
rural citizens to urban areas. The loss of population in rural America has resulted
in a population that, understandably, believes they are not being heard by their
elected officials. Far too often, the issues that matter the most are not given the
attention they deserve.
Focus on Rural America is dedicated to listening to and engaging rural citizens. We
believe that by identifying the causes of the growing divide between rural and
urban Americans we can begin to find solid solutions to the rural American
